Shaving vs Waxing

Shaving vs Waxing

Whether you are shaving or waxing Rei-Nude can help with irritation afterwards. While these are the two most common forms of hair removal they differ greatly from each other. Let’s explore below, hopefully after this article you will be able to decide what’s best for you!

For starters waxing is a process that removes the hair follicle from the root while shaving trims the hair at the surface leaving the root intact. To determine which is best for you, consider the pros/cons list we put together;

Shaving Pros

  •       Quick/easy at home daily-weekly routine
  •       Razors/shaving cream can be flexible to your budget starting at a lower entry point
  •       Shaving is not as painful as it only removes the hair follicle from the surface of the skin
  •       Hair can be any length to shave anytime you wish

Shaving Cons

  •       Can cause inflamed hair follicles, itching, ingrown hairs and razor burn
  •       Results last 1-3 days before hair starts to return
  •       Dull blades can cause cuts or irritation and need frequent changing

Waxing Pros

  •       Skin may feel smoother and hair may start to come in thinner over time
  •       Waxing can serve as a form of exfoliation
  •       Results last for 3-4 weeks

Waxing Cons

  •       Waxing can be painful depending on personal pain tolerance
  •       Waxing can cause inflamed hair follicles, pain, redness, ingrown hairs and skin irritation (we got you covered)
  •       Your hair must be ¼ to ¼ in to be waxed thus created a “schedule” that should be followed

For a closer shave feel free to gently exfoliate with Rei-freshed beforehand. After either form of hair removal we recommend Rei-nude to keep ingrown, redness, bumps and irritation from occurring.  The better choice of the two methods is a personal preference. At Rei Skincare we are ready to help you no matter which decision you choose.
